Week 1
May 17, 2008May 6th
Went to a workshop on the future use of Web 2.0 in the Dept of the Environment & Housing (DMAH) organised by the Department and a private company called Neoris. It was short but interesting and the speaker, Joan Mayans, made a great effort to cram as much information as possible into 2 hours.
The DMAH has contracted Neoris to do a feasability study on the introduction of Web 2.0 tools, and no-one should underestimate the difficulty of implementing change in the Public Administration.
After the session I went to congratulate Joan Mayans on his presentation and to comment to the representatives of Neoris that I am very interested in incorporating Web 2.0 tools in the soon to be created Catalan Housing Agency or if not, where I work at the moment in the Territorial Services of the Housing Department in Lleida. They kindly introduced me to the head of the project within the DMAH.
Mr. Mayans mentioned Jordi Graells, a Web 2.0 enthusiast in the Justice Department, a few times. I contacted him the next day to ask for advice on how to present my project in the best way possible. He answered me quickly and suggested that I attend a workshop on using the Internet for innovation in Public Administration which will take place in Barcelona on June 3rd. My boss has supported me in all of this.
I have recorded videos in Seesmic in both English and Spanish asking for advice and have had answers such as this one.
