Roaxanne Darling wrote on her Bare Feet Studios blog today about the difficulties Coca-Cola is having in understanding how to use social media. They have spent large sums of money but it’s not a question of economic investment but a change of mentality, of accepting a new reality far removed from conventional advertising.

Roxanne concludes:
Just remember, you can’t buy authenticity. You earn it, one transparent conversation at a time. That’s nothing to worry about, just something to start practicing. Maybe even in a staff meeting today!”

I agree completely with her – if we want to use any web 2.0 tool we have to change our way of thinking. The 1.0 formats are obsolete, static and no lnger useful. From now on we have to demonstrate that we are open and generous, rapid and mutually trusting and interrelate bypassing protocols and heirachies to reach the right to information that we all have.
