Hi - I came across your post on CommonCraft's Twitter explainer page. I work for King County Government in Seattle, Washington in the U.S. and my boss, the County Executive is very supportive of social media. On his website, we have links to his blog, his Facebook page and his Twitter stream. He is at the Democratic Convention in Denver this week and has been Tweeting up a storm about all the events, meetings and connections he's having there that relate to his work leading King County. Implementing Web 2.0 in government can be done, but having attended a social media conference and heard from people trying to do it in both public and private sectors, it's clear you need a strong advocate at the top leadership level to make it happen. And preferably someone who "gets it" themselves and doesn't just direct staff to "make that happen." Good luck!
